Every kid needs a "Dino the Dinosaur" costume!

I know, I know, I should be quilting. But, at this time of year as cooler (?) weather approaches, I think of all the cute Halloween costumes. Just finished this guy and think he is just SO cute! If you want to see more of him , or, even buy him, check out my Ebay store.

Memorial Case Quilt Idea

Sometimes you don't have to hang the WHOLE quilt on your wall.... use one of those flag memorial cases from your local hobby store to "frame" part of a treasured quilt (or buy a bigger case and fold it like a flag to put it in here). A lot of times you can get these cases cheaper if the glass is cracked. You don't need the glass, and probably wouldn't want it.

How to get expired printer ink to work!

I know this isn't necessarily quilt related, but, if you're like us...we use colored ink and it's expensive! I've been buying "new" ink cartridges on Ebay for a while now. They are ALWAYS expired...and CHEAP. I think the last one I paid $9.00 for. So far 2 of them have not worked (usually the ones marked"Puerto Rico").
Today I got it to work thanks to Ebay member: tapeo0. Here's what he said,

I have been using HP 78 for 15 years, usually 1 a month, if buying expired cartridges, expect the worst, if it does not print try wiping the print head with a damp paper towel, it that does not work, I push in the 3 little plugs where the manufacture fills the ink (on the top of the cartridge), this allows extra air to get in then force a little air thru the hole with a syringe (I used canned air) and blot the excess ink then put the cartridge thru the printers cleaning stage, repeat when necessary this works almost 95% of the time

My September 11th Remembrance Quilt

I know it's not anywhere near Sept. 11th yet, but I just had to make this quilt (going to make another closer to 9/11).  This reminded me of the hole in the earth that day. The Eagles song keeps going through my head about there being a "hole" in the earth tonight.

In the rings I put quotes: some disturbing, some inspirational. It is pieced, hand painted, and then long arm quilted with rings all over.

This one is sold, but like I said, hoping to make another closer to Sept. 11th.   May we all find peace...

What to do with doilies and linens.

From Pam Thompson's Pinterest board
What a GREAT idea for all those linens and doilies passed down to you by a loving grandmother or great grandmother!  I have some beautiful antique embroidered ones they did...some of them even have crocheted edging (all by hand). Follow this link to the Pinterest view!

Memory quilts from baby clothes...even add a stuffed animal or doll!

Memory quilt
Is your "baby" all grown up now? And you just can't get rid of those cute clothes that bring back happy memories? Or, that beloved stuffed animal? Make a "memory" quilt! (I didn't make this one, but DID make one for a client). The trick to adding the stuffed animal is to unstuff it (save the stuffing!)...cut it in half...sew most of it back onto the quilt block (usually by hand), and leave a hole big enough to get your hand in, so you can restuff that half of the animal or doll.

These are cute and easy to make. Or, contact me and I will make one for you  :)

Make an easy yardstick box!

Yardstick box

Do you have as many wooden yardsticks as I do? I have some that aren't straight anymore or the edges are worn. This is a great project for them! Just cut and glue together to make cute boxes. Easy!
*you can also find old yardsticks at flea markets for a low price.

Crazy T-shirt Quilt

This beautiful quilt was made by: Loretta Phelan
This one's a little blurry, but I love the T-shirt "crazy" quilt idea! (If you know who made this let me know so I can credit them).
This is a great idea for all those t-shirts that are odd sizes or the ones that just have a small logo on the front.
