Merry Christmas to all!!

Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas!!
Hope you all are having a wonderful holiday season!!
We are MOVING soon...mid January, so our house isn't very decorated. Unless you call piles of boxes a decoration :)

Hoping to be up and running again by mid January. Going to be long arming in a LOFT ! How cool is that!

Thanks to all of you who follow me on their Kindles! I am getting HALF a Kindle for Christmas :)...I have to share it with my hubby. I'll have lots of quilting stuff on it, and he'll have lots of chess stuff on it. (he's a competitive chess player).

A Happy and Prosperous New Year to you all too!

T-shirt quilts make great Christmas gifts!

Wondering what to get that person who has EVERYTHING?
How 'bout sneaking into their house, going through their drawers and swiping a handful of those t-shirts?!
I'm sure they'll forgive you in the end when they get their very own personal t-shirt quilt :)

Look at this lovely wall hanging...

Customer's beautiful embroidered quilt

This is Susan's beautiful embroidered quilt (wall hanging)! She had a looong winter :)
It is done on black crushed velvet. I  did an "l" pattern freehand around all the flowers and then bound the edges. Oh, and by the way, she uses commercial embroidery machines.

This is my favorite picture!

Kind've freaky, huh?
Monday, monday. Time to start another busy week (I love it!) Getting the binding on my king size Hawaiian quilt today, and getting a customer's quilt done too. Woke up early to no rain! A week is plenty, thank you!

Have a great week!

My "new" quilting/ sewing room!

Ok, I'm ready to start some alterations too as well as quilt! Already have two bags of alterations waiting on the machine. Also starting a "puppy" quilt for someone to give her sister as a gift.

Glad Irene spared us...afraid the downstairs would flood. It was amusing to watch Jim Cantore from the Weather channel though!

Well, gotta get to work! LOVE working at home. I'm a INFP (Myers/Briggs), so it's right up my alley. Now to make enough money to prove I can do it!

Adding alterations to my business!!

It's been a slow summer for the quilting business...too hot to think about making quilts! Christmas will be here before you know it, so keep me in mind everyone!

Going to add alterations to my business. Need to re-convert the family room into one big work space with room for trying on items and some hanging space. (watch for pictures)

Have done alterations for over 10 years, mainly specializing in formal wear and wedding gowns! Love, love it! Finally had hand surgery and recuperated, so I'm ready to go again!

Check out this beautiful vietnam picture quilt I spotted at a local quilt show last weekend! Beautiful, isn't it?

Neat way of using a loved one's patches and clothing to remember them or honor them.

Don't you just hate polyester quilts?!

This quilt was made by my son's great grandmother. The fabrics are from the 70's and 80's. (He didn't want it anymore because it has little baby animals on the back-it was his "baby" blanket)

I took it and long arm quilted a different design in each square! It's really cute, and vintage! For sale at my Etsy store:  Click here!

This is a customer's quilt (mainly showing the BACK of the quilt in this photo) that I quilted with an all over "stiple ball" design! I think it turned out beautiful.

My "find" at the "Salvation Army Fabric Fair" !!

Here's the abstract quilt I bought at the "Salvation Army Fabric Fair" for a couple bucks!

*I added the "prairie points" and machine quilted it using an all-over cube design

I think it's pretty cool. Wish I had a room in these colors to display it!

T-shirt Quilt !

My T-shirt quilt
I finally got my own t-shirt quilt done. Had to bum a few from my husband to make up a 12 t-shirt quilt. I think next time I will make it less symmetrical . It's quilted with an all-over panto gram which really gives it some interest :)

Do we have these in America?

sandal toe socks!
You've just gotta see what my friend, Yoshimi, sent me from Japan: sandal toe socks! And they match my flip flops... I don't think we have these in America, because if we did, my very annoying nerdy neighbor would be wearing them :)

The "Salvation Army" 'Fabric Fair''s the day!

The Salvation Army "Amish" quilt !

Here's a few pics. of the Amish quilt (hand-quilted) that I bought last year at the Salvation Army's "Fabric Fair" !( $5 bucks!!) I finally finished it. It was all hand quilted except for a few places. Then I machine bound it (just couldn't bring myself to do it by hand :)

Looking forward to the sale again at the begining of May! Those women are crazy...remember Cabbage Patch Kids?! I love it ....don't know whether I'm going to take my suitcase on wheels though...maybe just a HUGE shopping bag.
I'll try and get you some pictures of the event :)

Intercourse Pennsylvania

OK, so after today I won't bore you with anymore of my Lancaster Quilt show pictures. Just wanted to show you my favorite little town in Lancaster county: Intercourse, PA. It has these cute little shops/ houses selling great quilts actually made by the Amish women!  Every couple of minutes a horse and buggy usually comes trotting by. While we were standing there, an Amish buggy pulled up to the "drive-in" window at the bank! Great food in this area too. Usually Mennonite/ Amish (PA Dutch). Yum!

My favorite quilt form the Lancaster Quilt show 2011

Does your kitty do this?
This is my favorite quilt that I saw at the Lancaster quilt show 2011 ! The eyes are just wild. I think that they are a photo and transfered on to fabric. The cat itself looks to be embroidered  (?) Cool, huh?

"Sun Bonnet Sue's" from around the world...Lancaster quilt show

Look at this amazing quilt! It is the countries of the world done in "sun bonnet sue"! There wasn't much info that we could see about this quilt. Wondering if it was a pattern or if she just thought this up by herself!?

Trying my hand at a new medium!

"Springtime Mountain"
Hi everyone! Just finished working on this one. I hand painted muslin, then machine embroidered grass and flowers, then added hand painted "flowers" by hand.

I thought it turned out pretty well...after I stretched it on stretcher bars...trying to get some of the wrinkles out :)  Next, I should try and quilt one too!

This quilt has a story...

The back is as pretty as the front!
I should hang this one on my front door!
Let me tell you the story of this cute wall hanging...
Every year in the first week of May the "Salvation Army" has a HUGE fabric sale. This past May, they rented out an old fitness club. It was huge. Still had the mirrors on the walls, so it even looked bigger :)

About a hundred people were lined up outside of the building, some even in lawn chairs. As I stood in line I couldn't help but wonder why some of the women had their suit cases (the kind with the wheels on). Well, as soon as those doors were open it was like the year of the "Cabbage Patch doll" craze!! They ran in there, unzipped their suit cases and started stuffing all the fabric, notions, patterns, etc. in those things like crazy women. It was a sight to see!

Me, after getting my bearings and remembering to close my shocked mouth, decided to scan the walls first. And there they were...the oddities table and wall. I made a beeline for the half done Amish quilt hanging on the wall and grabbed was marked only $5 bucks!! Years earlier, at an Amish auction I had paid $75 for one almost exactly like it!! (I'll post pics. of these later)

Well, I looked down and here was this great panel of fabric just screaming my name..."Home for Wayward Fabrics". I think I only paid a dollar for it.

Going to go get my lawn chair and dig out my biggest suitcase with wheels on it now...have a great day :)
